It’s well known and not a surprise that Europe have a different and more relaxed approach to alcohol than America. Even with as much time as I’ve spent running around the continent though, I was still surprised to walk into the entrance area of a supermarket in Luxembourg and see…….
a bar! Before the mini shops, before the restaurant, before the grocery store itself even, the first thing to greet you here is a barmaid! The question is, is it the idea of an opportunist who saw a lot of bored spouses and wanted to give them an alternative to going shopping? Or is it an evil trick by the grocery store chain to get you to buy more? Either way, I found it rather entertaining that I am still finding things in Europe that catch me totally off guard.
